What do you get when you put the looks of a southern belle, the heart of a rodeo queen and the perfect pitch for country music all in one? Two words: Kylie Frey. Add in a gift for songwriting, as well as guitar playing and you’ve got one talented young woman. Pay attention folks, this is one name you’re going to want to remember… Her Start Kylie has always enjoyed the spotlight. She grew up in dusty boots and cowboy hats, competing in the Texas rodeos. She could often be found singing the national anthem before the rodeo began or strumming away on her guitar after the competition was over. “Looking back, I love that the rodeo taught me to be independent, driven and hardworking,” shares Kylie. Her parents realized her love for the stage and enrolled her in singing lessons. As she polished and perfected her voice, she began to write songs. She also started singing acoustically at local restaurants and bars around South Louisiana like the famous Blue Dog Café. Louisiana, known for the talented voices of Tim McGraw, Britney Spears and most recently Hunter Hayes, would soon have another vocalist to add to its list. At 15, she entered a songwriting competition in Pensacola, Florida. After coming in second, ahead of many seasoned songwriters, the Opelousas native was inspired to write down more of her life experiences. She performed one of her original songs at the 2012 National High School Rodeo’s talent show, won first place and a one thousand dollar scholarship. She soon had the idea for her debut album and Cinderella Dreams was born. “I have dreams, and through my music my fairytale will live forever,” Kylie says of her album. She worked for almost three years, writing and compiling the songs for her album. Finally, on October 25, 2014, she held her first album release party and confidently debuted Cinderella Dreams to the world. The title comes from a song on her album by the same name. Kylie considers this song “her anthem” and because of this she knew she had to name her album after it. The album was incredibly well received and fans were thrilled to finally be able to listen to Frey’s music whenever they pleased. With titles like “Cinderella Dreams”, “Unfinished Business”, and “The Chase”, it’s apparent that Frey has a lot to say. “These songs are from my experiences” she explains, “they all have a story behind them and they tell little pieces about my life.” Her Songwriting Similar to country artists like Taylor Swift and Thomas Rhett; Kylie has written her music from the heart. Cinderella Dreams features her adventures artfully woven into the music so that you feel as if you are along for the ride. It’s a talent not many can boast of, but songwriting seems to come naturally to Frey. Following the release of her album, she began focusing on her next big project: a music video for her first single “The Chase.” Frey states that “The Chase” is a true story. The song came to her when she wasn’t even planning to write about it. Filming took place near Frey’s hometown in Lafayette, Louisiana. The catchy tune took on an air of mystery for the music video with a Mardi Gras ball masquerade theme. Kylie turns heads in a beautiful beige gown complete with lace and crystals. She describes the experience as, “One of the coolest I’ve had in my career thus far. I truly felt like a rock star.”see
