Bryan Martin - "Oilfield Dad"
Louisiana Storytellers
Bryan Martin has worked in the Oilfield for several years so this song is more than just lyrics to him, it is his life. “I was working derricks on
H&P Rig 252 and was on day 11 of a 14 day hitch. We were running cement and I was down on the pits watching for returns when I started thinking
of how much I missed my kids and wife.” Those feelings started eating away at Martin and that was the seed that turned into “Oilfield Dad.”
“My first day home I walked in and grabbed my guitar and sang it to my wife and kids. My wife cried and suggested I share it on Facebook. I uploaded
it to YouTube around 2:30 a.m. and by 8:30 the next morning it had over 1,500 shares on Facebook.” Apparently his wife was right, because the official
video for the song now has almost 200,000 views on YouTube and has become a big hit among oilfield workers throughout Louisiana and other states.
Martin says “This was just a song I wrote for my wife and kids and it has turned into a game changer for my music career. The response this song has
gotten blows me away.”
